Since assuming the office of Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi has not taken a single leave, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). This revelation comes in response to a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by Prafful P. Sarda.

The RTI included two specific questions. The first inquired about the number of days PM Modi has attended office since becoming India’s Prime Minister in 2014. The second sought details about the number of days he has been present at various events and functions in his capacity as Prime Minister.

The PMO’s response to the first question was clear: “The Prime Minister is on duty all the time. No leave has been availed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since taking office.”

An accompanying website link provided by the PMO showcases that PM Modi has been a part of over 3,000 events, both in India and abroad, since he assumed the role of Prime Minister in May 2014.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, shared a copy of the RTI response on the social media platform X with the caption #MyPmMyPride.

This isn’t the first time such information has come to light. A similar RTI query filed in December 2015 yielded the same response, indicating that PM Modi had not taken any leave during his initial tenure as Prime Minister.

Furthermore, in 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not taken any leave in the 20 years he had held public office.

Recently, during a meeting with members of the Indian community in Bangkok, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed his admiration for PM Modi, stating, “I feel it’s been an enormous good fortune of the country to have someone like PM Modi at this time. And I am not saying this because he is the prime minister of the day and I am a member of his cabinet.” This sentiment underscores the widespread respect and appreciation for PM Modi’s unwavering commitment to his role as India’s Prime Minister.
