Air India is extending its support to passengers traveling to and from Delhi during the upcoming G20 Summit by offering various waivers and flexibility options. The airline announced that travel restrictions would be in place at Delhi Airport from September 7th to 11th, 2023, in view of the prestigious G20 Summit scheduled in the national capital on September 9th and 10th.

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Air India stated, “There will be travel restrictions in Delhi between 7th and 11th September 2023. As a measure of goodwill, passengers holding confirmed tickets to fly to or from Delhi on these dates are being offered a one-time waiver of applicable charges if they wish to change their date of travel or their flight. Only the fare difference for the rescheduled flight, if any, would be applicable.”

Delhi Airport operator DIAL (Delhi International Airport Ltd) has been collaborating with various government departments, including the Home Ministry, to ensure the smooth facilitation of guests attending the G20 Summit. DIAL has formed a dedicated team of senior officials to oversee the arrival and departure operations of G20 delegates, ensuring a seamless experience.

Moreover, DIAL is working closely with government departments such as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Delhi government to provide essential support for guest facilitation.

In another development, Air India is set to expand its fleet with the induction of two A350 aircraft this year. The airline has received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for these additions, and both aircraft will be equipped with Rolls Royce engines. By the end of March 2024, Air India plans to have a total of six A350 planes in its fleet.

Since its acquisition by the Tata Group in January of the previous year, Air India has been actively expanding its fleet and operations. In February, the airline placed an order for a significant number of aircraft, including 40 A350-900/1000 planes.

The expansion plans underscore Air India’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and offering passengers a more comfortable and updated travel experience. Air India’s Chief, Campbell Wilson, expressed that around one-third of the airline’s wide-body fleet will feature modern seats and in-flight entertainment systems by March 2024. With the addition of new aircraft and plans for further expansion, Air India is poised to strengthen its position in the aviation industry.
